FEAST // San Diego New Children's Museum
For Feast: The Art of Playing with Your Food, the outdoor clay studio at the New Children's Museum in San Diego is transformed into a festive environment mimicking a professional bakery and cake shop, creating a space and offering "recipes" for visitors follow "recipes" and use a custom two-side baking tools to sculpt clay “treats” out of clay and offer them as gifts or display them in the "pastry case".
Components to two-sided "baking tools" were made in collaboration with Yvonne Mouser, a a San Francisco based artist, designer, and builder engaged in creative practice that spans furniture design, product, spaces, fine art, and events. Feast - the art of playing with your food, is a bakeshop-inspired art studio that mimics a professional bakery, where visitors can experiment with the tools to sculpt "treats" out of clay and offer them as gifts. Four different two-sided tools were made by hand in sets of ten including: a rolling pin / stamp, spoon / spatula, cone form / hole punch, and a comb / pastry scraper.
